Resistance is futile - Oracle to assimilate RIM? This is a great article sent to me by a colleague - Jonathan Fisher.  This sort of follow's up on my post on OpenOffice. Oracle has been quietly in the background building up a significant portfolio of enterprise plays. Considering all the posting I have been doing on RIM that is a accumulation of thoughts over quite some time, RIM could...

Have Microsoft lost the plot? Before you put pen to paper on a topic like this you have to challenge yourself before you make such a bold statement - so note the question mark. Peter Drucker wisely noted, "Business has only two basic functions: marketing and innovation." High tech is uniquely a product of both. Inbound marketing leads to innovation, or at very least...

Recently Cisco unveiled its Cius tablet PC running the Android 2.0 OS aimed squarely at business users. This is a game changer. #Hosting automation for Telco / Carriers - choice is... I was holding off on this post until a few things had passed but this is a really important one, its actually vital to how the hosting industry 'pans' out within the telco / carrier market - the hosting industry has quite literally gone 'pete tong' since the BPOS drive against partners. The market is full of technical 'diatribe' - everything...

When did you last receive an email from your Hairdresser?

A note from Chris Cardell ….

Today I want to share with you one of the key ingredients for your Entrepreneurial success.

It’s Free and you can do it right now but I can guarantee that virtually none of your competitors are doing it.

What is it? It’s thinking outside the box. It’s taking a step back from your business and looking at your marketing in a totally new way.

Let me explain. Most businesses are trapped in a prison. It’s the prison that says they have to market in the same way that everyone else in their profession markets. So all the plumbers advertise in the yellow pages, all the hairdressers advertise in the local paper, all the double glazing companies use telemarketing etc etc.

10 great tips to increase sales

Category : General

It’s amazing that most people don’t get these or importantly execute on them.

Marketing needs to be reinvented- for most it’s a brochure/website- ok, there are some fundamentals but marketing is progressive and in sense opportunistic- carpe diem, seize the moment! Marketing is the core to my business.

Anyway, Chris Cardell of Cardell Media puts forward in my mind the 10 most elequent strategies to drive marketing which create sales.

So here are my 10 guiding principles. I’ll be coming back to each of these in detail in the weeks and months ahead:

1 Most small business advertising does not work. The people trying to sell you ad space are close to the Entrepreneur’s Mafia in my view – and we need to protect ourselves from their tactics.

2 If you’re not using at least ten different methods of getting customers into your business, you’re probably missing out on a fortune.

3 Web site designers are not Entrepreneurs. They’re web site designers. They should not be responsible for your Internet Marketing.

4 You have 8 seconds to make an impact on a new visitor to your website. If you don’t get them in the first 8 seconds, they’ll move on to the next site

5 Marketing is the greatest tool available for Entrepreneurial Wealth. Becoming great at Marketing will make you wealthy.

6 Your prices are almost certainly too low.

7 Being an Entrepreneur can be tough but being an employee is much, much worse. You’ve made the right decision (or maybe you’re about to make the right decision.)

8 Wealth is a choice. Nobody will tell you this but becoming wealthy is actually fairly straightforward. Study and duplicate success. It’s (almost) as simple as that.

9 The most important factor in creating Entrepreneurial success is your mindset and thinking. That’s why a significant proportion of my work is focused on Advanced Thinking.

10 Nothing I tell you will ever be theory. My own business is worth over £20 million but getting there was not always easy. All my strategies were developed in ‘the trenches’ If I can save you from some of the hurdles I had to jump over, I will have done a good job.

This is well worth a post http://www.cardellmedia.co.uk/

I know so many people who have signed up to this and also taken the CD’s. Importantly, Chris has credibility across the industry.

I admit I was one of those skeptics until I joined one of his master classes by phone about 2 years ago. Chris’s insight and ability to simply catagorise key steps to create business success is uncluttered and simple. I always love the 10 steps to create a sale – too many people think its an email, phone call etc This is not the real world – there are conscious and subconscious ways to reach your customers  – you need to get on their agenda. Anyway, well worth signing up.
